Symposia

Workshops

Attendees may participate in a workshop on Thursday, June 7 for an additional cost. All workshops are listed below. Capacity is limited; workshops will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Cost to Attend

Half-day: $200 ($250 on-site)
Full-day: $350 ($400 on-site)

Full-day Workshops

Workshop 1 (8:00 am – 5:00 pm)

Getting Traction through the Guidance & Execution Model
Tom Moriarty, PE, CMRP, MBA & Hank Kocevar, CMRP, Alidade MER, Inc.

There are three organizational stages: chaos, control and proactive. To achieve the proactive stage, organizations must first establish and sustain control. Organizations in chaos need processes that define and measure desired behaviors. The Guidance & Execution Model is a structured, repeatable approach for creating guidance (process maps, defining accountability/responsibility) and executing to achieve and sustain control.

Half-Day Workshops

Workshop 2 (8:00 am – 12:00 pm)

Reliability Engineer: What You Need to Know
Christer Idhammar - IDCON, Inc.

Many reliability engineers find themselves not doing what they’re expected to be doing. This presentation will explain what a reliability engineer must know, what their role should be, and the common reasons why reliability engineers end up doing many things other than what a reliability engineer is taught in school.

Workshop 3 (8:00 am – 12:00 pm)

What’s Wrong with Our PM Program? Why PM Optimization and RCM Alone are Not Enough
Greg Folts, CMRP, Marshall Institute

Preventive maintenance (PM) optimization and reliability centered maintenance (RCM) are fantastic tools, but will only serve as a foundation for true equipment reliability. In addition to this foundation, we will explore the additional elements needed for achieving the highest uptime. We will explore the key elements needed for a true world-class asset care strategy.

Workshop 4 (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm)

Solidify Your Front Line Maintenance Leadership Team
Dale Malzi, CMRP & Joe Pollhein, CMRP, Academy Front Line Leaders

Maintenance and reliability success requires individuals who not only understand the concepts, but can also make the concepts understandable where the work gets done: on the front lines. Whether it's in a heavy mobile maintenance shop, a running repair team, an underground mining maintenance team, or manufacturing plant, front line leaders must possess the ability to make the often complex content of maintenance and reliability simple, understandable and executable. Join a couple of CMRP-certified, United States Military Academy graduates (and classmates) who have spent a combined 60+ years leading from the front as we discuss the challenges of effective front line leadership and explore ways to overcome these challenges to be a more effective maintenance and reliability professional and grow the leaders on your team.

Workshop 5 (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm)

PM Optimization: Finally, a Practical Approach
Shon Isenhour, CMRP, CAMA, CCMP & James Kovacevic, CMRP, Eruditio, LLC

Getting the most out of any preventive maintenance (PM)/predictive maintenance (PdM) program is vital to the long-term success of the program and prolonging the life of the assets. So why are PM/PdM routines changed/optimized without following some defined criteria? The key to successfully optimizing PM/PdM routines is to not only follow a prescribed approach, but to make the approach practical and easy to follow. This practical approach ensures that all levels of the organization can contribute to the optimization process.
