A Body of Knowledge is an aggregate of what is known and understood in a certain field based on familiarity gained through experience or association. For the SMRP, it encompasses the subject areas to be mastered by the Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP).
The SMRP Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) Knowledge Committee is working to develop a descriptive and comprehensive reference document on the SMRP Body of Knowledge (BoK). This BoK document will be the definitive source of information for learning, improving and sharing what it means to achieve "best practice" in five interrelated work processes.

This committee is currently focused on review and expansion of the CMRP reference guide, aligned in the five work processes, This will provide a greatly expanded compendium of reliability and maintenance best practices. All this of course while ensuring consistency with the Best Practice Committee metrics, and Benchmarking Committee activities.
As progress is made by the committee, you will see additional links and information to assist you as you continue down the path to best practice maintenance and reliability. Be sure to check back with us in the near future.
The committe chair is in transition.
The interim project manager is Bob Baldwin.
If you have an interest in contributing to our efforts to enhance the SMRP body of knowledge, we invite you to join the M&R Knowledge Committee. For more information, please contact:
