Past Chapter Events

On Friday, December 15th, the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Chapter held its final meeting of 2017 at Regal Beloit’s Florence, KY location. After introductions, lunch and a review of chapter business for 2017, the group took a tour of the facility and learned about different segments of the power transmission industry that Regal serves from this location. Plant Manager Michael McMonagle conducted the tour, and did an excellent job of explaining the processes as well as the upgrades they have made with an eye toward the future. It’s clear that the folks at Regal take a great deal of pride in their work and the upkeep of the equipment. Housekeeping across the site was very impressive, and the Regal team did a great job of making the chapter feel welcome.

Following the tour, Dan Philips from Regal and also from the Allegheny/Appalachian SMRP Chapter gave a very informative presentation on preventive and predictive methods for torsional vibration. The presentation covered the basics of “what is torque,” all the way through the more advanced theory and principles of torsional vibration and how to apply these to a condition-based maintenance program. A special thanks to chapter member Rodney Collier for organizing and hosting this meeting. It was a great way to close out 2017 for the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Chapter.
