Memphis is home to FedEx Corporation, but more importantly the FedEx Express SuperHub located near Memphis International Airport that coordinates 650+ aircraft across 100 airports around the globe every day. This tour, led by a maintenance employee, explores the following key areas and facilities that ensure FedEx Express is able to ship over one billion packages each year:
Global Operations Control Center (GOC)
The highest level of command in the FedEx Express line haul system, where staff works 24 hours a day to ensure aircraft, personnel and airports have updated information and contingency plans for the hundreds of aircraft in the air.
Primary Matrix Sorting facility
This facility is for average packages (75 lbs. or less) that are scanned, assigned and diverted to a secondary sorting operation.
Tour attendees have a 360-degree view of the FedEx Express ramp, including many hangars, spare aircraft and a number of facilities throughout the campus.
Where packages over 150 lbs. are moved by forklifts to outbound containers or pallets that are then loaded onto aircraft.
Small Packaging Sorting System (SPSS) facility
A semi-automatic small parcel and document facility home to 800+ employees that has the capacity to sort 325,000 documents per hour.

DuPont’s Soy Protein Isolate Production Facility Tour

Sign up to tour the DuPont Soy Protein Isolate production facility in Memphis. During the tour, guides will provide a basic overview of the site and walk attendees through areas of the facility. Attendees will learn about the facility’s equipment and DuPont’s maintenance programs. The tour will discuss DuPont’s use of predictive maintenance technologies and equipment reliability activities, such as vibration, lubrication, motor maintenance and thermal imaging.
