Body of Knowledge

The five pillars of the SMRP Body of Knowledge (BoK) are a roadmap to world-class performance. Each pillar details an area of maintenance, reliability and physical asset management that practitioners and professionals should be proficient in to improve their careers. The BoK forms the framework for all SMRP educational offerings and programs.

The following are pillars of the BoK: Business & Management; Manufacturing Process Reliability; Equipment Reliability; Organization & Leadership; Work Management.

ISO/TC 251 is the technical committee for asset management systems, responsible for the development of the ISO 55000 family of standards. These standards define good practices in asset management and requirements for a management system. The ISO/TC 251 website contains a wealth of information concerning the discipline of asset management, case studies of ISO 55001 implementation and details of projects that the Technical Committee is currently working on.
