Manufacturing

The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) gives individuals at every level of the manufacturing industry the tools and knowledge to improve the bottom line at their plant or processing center.

Because the manufacturing industry represents many sectors that involve the production and processing of products and goods including automobiles, furniture, food and beverage, different manufacturing sectors require specific, complex machinery and equipment that are unique to that industry.

Given this nature, maintenance and reliability professionals are challenged to learn the intricacies and complexities of this equipment in order to provide proper service and care.

Companies within the manufacturing sector also look for ways to reduce costs, production time and unplanned downtime, which can directly impact the bottom line. Instituting maintenance and reliability best practices, including predictive maintenance and embracing the Industrial Internet of Things in all aspects of manufacturing, can greatly enhance a company operating within the space.

SMRP members in the manufacturing industry experience education and career growth by being exposed to industry experts and peer-reviewed knowledge.

SMRP offers:

  • Best practices, metrics and guidelines based on the SMRP Body of Knowledge.
  • Leading certifications like CMRP, CMRT and CAMA that validate the skills and knowledge of individuals.
  • Professional development webinars that explore technologies and trends like root cause analysis, the internet of things and reliability-centered maintenance.
  • Networking opportunities through Symposia and the Annual Conference that connect members for knowledge sharing within the industry.
  • A voice to policymakers in the US for all maintenance, reliability and physical asset management practitioners and professionals through our government relations program.

What our members have to say:

“Before joining SMRP, I didn’t have a way to look at metrics from other companies to evaluate our established benchmarks. Resources such as the Body of Knowledge, webinars, the Exchange and Annual Conference allow members from within the manufacturing industry to share Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that we can all hang our hats on.” Mike Burgett, TMMMS CMPE, CFL, Maintenance A/M at Toyota Motor Corporation

“SMRP allows fierce competitors from within the manufacturing sector to come together to discuss best practices within the industry. This is relevant for members at every level of their career. For those just starting out or still in school, SMRP allows new members to get plugged into the industry and offers a better idea of what maintenance and reliability looks like within manufacturing. For more experienced professionals, SMRP offers the ability to share information, best practices and KPIs from professionals across the industry.”  Shon Isenhour, CMRP CAMA CCMP, Founding Partner at Eruditio LLC
