SMRP Awards $18,000 in Student Scholarships for 2018-2019 Academic Year

ATLANTA (August 31, 2018) – The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) is proud to announce its 2018-2019 academic year scholarship recipients. The announcement signals an $18,000 investment in students currently active in academic programs that translate to careers in maintenance, reliability and physical asset management.

Recipients of the 2018-2019 academic year scholarships are:

Jojo France-Mensah, University of Texas at Austin, recipient of the $10,000 Legacy of Excellence Scholarship.

Aya Hasan, University of Houston, recipient of the $2,000 SMRP Scholarship.

Grayson Northern, University of Tennessee, recipient of the $2,000 SMRPCO Jack & Dorothy Nicholas Scholarship.

Prevailer Mba, Prairie View A&M University; and Toechukwu UdegBue, The University of Texas at San Antonio, recipients of the two $2,000 Higher Standards Scholarships.

Through ongoing legislative advocacy efforts and SMRP’s Student Advancement Opportunities program, SMRP promotes technical career training in order to bolster the next generation of maintenance and reliability professionals.

”This year’s scholarship recipients were chosen from our most diverse pool of applicants to-date,” said Erin Erickson, executive director of SMRP. “We are thrilled to see the growing interest in our profession among the next generation of professionals and look forward to continuing to provide opportunities for increased learning and experience.”
