ATLANTA – Ten companies specializing in training for reliability and physical asset management are now confirmed as approved providers of professional education by the non-profit Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP).  The SMRP Approved Provider Education Program recognizes education and training that align with topics and best practices related to reliability and physical asset management.  Specifically, those topics which have been documented in the SMRP Body of Knowledge and/or the Asset Management Landscape, published by the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM). 

The SMRP Body of Knowledge is the foundation for the ANSI-accredited Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) credential.

Ensuring their courses were recognized by the Approved Provider Education Program was a priority for the Marshall Institute, based in North Carolina.

“During my 16 years working with SMRP, I have seen the organization become a key contributor to the maintenance and reliability community,” said Greg Folts, CMRP, president at Marshall Institute.  “The Approved Provider program is the next logical step in supporting the understanding of SMRP’s Body of Knowledge.”

The new program is designed to help practitioners in their search for quality professional education.

“Our program is a new resource for practitioners seeking an additional level of validation for their training providers,” said Ron Leonard, chair of the Approved Provider Education Committee and principal consultant with Life Cycle Engineering.  “This validation is important, because since the release of the ISO 55000 standards last year, more companies are recognizing reliability and physical asset management as a valuable business strategy, and expecting tangible results from their reliability leaders.”
