Reference Guidance for Senior Member Applicants

  1. You have been nominated to act as the reference for an applicant for Senior Member of the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals
  2. You need be a Senior Member to act in this role and have direct knowledge of the applicant’s work and experience.
  3. You must not be a relative of the applicant.
  4. You must be willing, to the best of your knowledge:
  5. Verify the applicant’s claimed responsibility and experience.
  6. Make a statement to the effect that the applicant is suitable to be a member of a professional body and be satisfied that he or she will abide by and uphold the SMRP Code of Conduct.
  1. The applicant should ask you to act as his or her reference before submitting an application for Senior Membership. Within four weeks of the applicant submitting an application you will receive an email from SMRP asking you to complete a short questionnaire about the applicant. You should ensure that you review the application form and any supporting qualification documents with the applicant before completing the questionnaire.
  2. Please complete the questionnaire below within two weeks of receipt. If you have any queries about what you are being asked to do, the SMRP office will help you at [email protected] 
  3. Please be prepared to discuss the application with a representative of the SMRP Membership Committee if necessary.
