Facility Overview

Brightline's Basecamp, a sophisticated train maintenance facility, spans a vast 135,805 square feet in ‎Orlando. Worth $100 million, the facility occupies 62 acres south of Orlando International Airport. It's ‎currently being used to commission new Brightline trains and service existing ones.

With the anticipated ‎opening of the Orlando station later this year, the Basecamp will shift to around-the-clock operations and ‎employ around 175 professionals ranging from engineers and conductors to technicians and inspectors.‎

The enormity of Brightline's Basecamp rivals two football fields in length and houses cutting-edge ‎technology, including:‎
  • The Truck Shop: Here, the trucks of both coaches and locomotives are disassembled, cleaned, ‎and rebuilt for further use.‎
  • The Drop Table: This 25-foot-deep apparatus operates between the heavy maintenance track ‎and the truck shop. It is designed to swiftly swap out trucks, thus minimizing downtime and ‎returning trains to service promptly.‎
  • Parts Warehouse: An expansive three-story, 11,000 sq. ft. shop dedicated to parts storage.‎
  • Wheel True Facility: This is where train wheels are restored or "trued" back to their original ‎profile, thus ensuring optimal ride quality and performance.‎
  • Fueling and Sand Islands: These include an 80,000-gallon biodiesel fuel farm for efficient and ‎sustainable fueling.‎
  • Train Wash Facility: Capable of washing a train consisting of four coaches and two locomotives in ‎just 15 minutes, using 75% recycled water, making it both fast and eco-friendly.‎
